hmmmm....

Well, not alot going on here...kids in school, rehanyn at home, jason working, me working. And, there may be some news on the horizon (no, no more kids) but I don't wanna talk about it on here just yet as I won't know anything definite until early next week. Those of you who know what I'm talking about--keep thinking of me and send good thoughts my way...those who don't--well, you'll have to wait until next week. HA, neiner, neiner, neiner :-)

Confused yet? Me too :-)

BTW, congrats Tamra on making baby #4! I still think you are crazy though!

Tristan's first day with new teacher

Well, yesterday was Tristan's first day with his new teacher. He got a sticker on his behavior chart so that was good. He had a couple papers sent home that he completed in school and they had *gasp* POSITIVE comments on them. He had written numbers by himself (teacher said he needed coaxing but did do it) and you could actually read them, and he did another page where you read the days of the week and then write the days of the week and he did it all by himself and although it was messy you could actually read what he wrote!!! Hopefully this keeps up but we are very encouraged that this new teacher is the best thing for him!

Also, yesterday Tristan came out and was talking about Aerodactyl (a pokemon) and was very easily understood (and pronounced it perfectly!). He is doing so much better with his speech--it seems like his problem sounds are the "l" and "r" since he pronounces both as "w" (i.e. "wion" and "wabbit")

Yesterday

So, get a call yesterday that Jason's car is finished (we took it in before Christmas, they kept it for 14 days, we got it back and then took it back in last week). So, we get the kids up from their naps, load them in the car (the same one we had just unloaded groceries from) and drive across town to pick up his car. Jason goes in--pays the deductible and drives the car out of the "bay". Drives it over to where I'm parked and looks under the hood. Finds an extra piece of something in the engine and then drives it right back in. I guess while he is in there this time he gets down on the floor and looks under the car and notices that they didn't fix the very thing we took it in for in the first place back in December. So, our car remains in the shop! Very frustrating.

Update

Went to the meeting with the Principal on Wednesday. Long story short---Tristan will have a new teacher in 2 weeks!!!! The classroom that the principal decided to move him to is the teacher that both Jason and I had hoped we would get (we didn't get to pick) so that makes us happy. So we got what we wanted. Also, at the meeting we asked about how things were moving to set up speech therapy and occupational therapy. The principal said she would look into it and Jason is currently in a meeting with the school Diagnostician about Tristan's "plan"--we will see what he has to say when he gets home.

That's pretty much it. :-) Hope you have a good weekend.

Back to school!

Yay!!! Christmas break is over and 2 of the kids are back in school!!! Now just to get Rehanyn in school in 8 months! Rehanyn was definitely missing the big kids today but we made it through. It just doesn't help when mommy is sleepy :-) She was asking for lunch at 9 am. You would think we never feed the child!

Tristan had a good day at school yesterday....got in trouble today for "not following directions"--whatever that means. His teacher has instituted a new "discipline" plan that she tried to explain to the parents in writing--it's as clear as mud to us though so not sure how well the kids will do with it. Yesterday something happened (we aren't sure if his lunch was left at home or what) but Tristan didn't eat lunch. If he forgot his lunch at home why weren't we called about it. And if he didn't eat his lunch I think I should have at least gotten a note about it. I'm so frustrated. We have a meeting with the principal tomorrow so hopefully will get this figured out.

At some point we need to take down the Christmas tree--maybe this weekend.

Adreyn has a birthday party to go to this weekend so she is excited about that!

That's about it for exciting information.

Tristan loses a tooth!!!

Tristan found that he had a loose front tooth on Christmas Eve...and begged us to take it out....but it wasn't ready :-) We told him it could be a couple of days and he said "maybe tomorrow?" So today he comes running out to me saying "it comed out, it comed out!!!" and there in his little fingers was his first tiny little tooth!!! He pulled it himself--so much easier than Adreyn who refused to let us pull hers. :-) He is very proud of himself!!!

Christmas Day

Christmas morning was spent at home opening presents and playing with the new toys. Then in the afternoon we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house and had Christmas dinner (Yummy!) and then opened presents there too. The kids had a great Christmas!!! I'll try to post pictures from Grandma and Grandpa's house (or for the rest of the Huberty grandkids "Grammy and PaPa's") eventually :-)

Christmas Eve

So, I've been quite lax about blogging lately. I guess I took a blogging break--not because I planned it but because I just didn't feel like it :-)

So, Tristan got sent to the principal's office again. Same reason. Why the teacher took him to the office immediately instead of stopping at the bathroom first when he said he had to go--I will never understand that *idiot* (ok, sorry, adjusting my attitude) *crazy* woman. Come to find out the cafeteria incident (first one)--upon investigation another kid told Tristan to do it, so not his fault, really, I guess. Come to find out--this time the same kid told him to do it again. So after *expressing* my frustration to the principal I asked for a new teacher for Tristan and hopefully we will get a new one when the current 6 weeks is over (middle of Jan) so that makes Jason and I much happier. Tristan's speech and motor skills are continually improving too.

Adreyn is doing well in school--other than being a bit messy so we are working on that with her handwriting and keeping her desk neat. She is motivated to do well so that helps.

Rehanyn is frustrating us as always--I swear she is the child God gave me in return for my parents saying "just wait--one of these days you'll get a kid just like you". She is such a sweetie but sooooo high maintenance! We are looking forward to school for her next year. Right now she is sick with a cough and stuffiness so she is even more fun because she is "fweeling vewy sick, mommy".

Work has had a bit of a low census in the last couple of weeks so I have been able to get some time off (on call but at least I get to stay home). That has been nice. I've been busy the last couple of weeks doing some Christmas baking (cake balls, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered pretzels). The middle of December mom and dad watched the kids overnight for us so we could go to a friends birthday party and actually be adults for awhile :-)

Jason has been busy again--this is nice since his work was slow for awhile. Right now his car is in the shop (has been since last Thursday) to get some warranty work done before the warranty runs out. So, Jason has been driving a rental car--well, not a car it's a Dodge Ram King Cab truck. That thing is so HUGE I have to crawl into it!!!! It doesn't look too bad for the kids to crawl in but not so good when the mommy has to. Even Jason has a little trouble climbing in :-)

This is the first year in 9 years that I have both Christmas Eve and Christmas day off. I usually work one or the other--so have to spend at least some time sleeping each day. It will be nice to be fully awake tomorrow!!!

Today I went last minute Christmas shopping--and took all 3 kids. That was an adventure and reminded me why you shouldn't procrastinate and shop the day before Christmas!!! And why mom would never take us shopping with her--I always wanted to go and now I totally understand why! :-)

Mom and Debbie have both asked me about Cake Balls so here is the recipe:

CAKE BALLS
1 box Cake mix (any flavor)
1 tub frosting (any flavor)
1 package white chocolate bark (or chocolate or the candy spheres you can get at Michaels)

Cook cake mix according to directions. Let cool then crumble into tiny crumbs
Add entire tub of frosting--mix completely with crumbs
Chill mixture
When cold form into small bite-sized balls--Chill again
Melt white chocolate (or whatever you are using)
Dip chilled cake balls in white chocolate (cover cake completely) and let dry/harden on wax paper or aluminum foil

Eat and enjoy!!!

I like to use white cake mix (I add a little peppermint extract to the batter) and mix vanilla frosting (tinted pink with a bit of peppermint extract added) in with a chocolate coating. you can use whatever flavors you like--red velvet cake is really pretty with this too if you coat it in pink or white.

I guess that is it for now--I'll post pictures of Christmas morning and Christmas at mom and dad's tomorrow.

Merry Christmas Eve to all!!!!!
